Established in 1958, Milan Fashion Week was hosted by the Camera Sindacale della Moda Italiana, which is a fashion showcase taking place twice a year in Milan Italy. This event used to present the Italian fashion industry and its talents by catwalk shows. Today, Milan Fashion Week becomes a platform aiming to promote Italian fashion designers in both Italy and internationally, though it is still organized by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana.
Take Spring/Summer 2023 season as example, the new-ins in prêt-à-porter and accessories for men are previewed to the press and to professionals in the fashion sector. During the fashion week, the three main venues in the city of Milan, Spazio Cavallerizze, Palazzo Reale’s Sala delle Cariatidi and the Padiglione Visconti, are enlivened by parades, presentation and reserved events featuring the participation of the best Italian designers. Other show locations in the city including Dolce & Gabbana’s men’s 2018 Alta Moda & Alta Sartoria show in the Villa Carlotta alongside Lake Como, Peuterey’s SS16 show in the restored vineyard of Leonardo da Vinci at Casa degli Atellani or Jil Sander’s SS18 show at the Fiera di Milano complex. The biggest highlights from Milan Fashion Week Spring 2023 are as following.
The Set
The white walls, browns floors and gingham curtains, cardboard cube seats lined the perimeter, everything were designed by Rem Koolhaas. The brand’s contemporary art center, once again at the Fondazione Prada, the set resembled a blown-up suburban house interior.
The Collection
From picnic-ready gingham checks to light-wash denim, the collection was broken up into several groups more than just one recurring motif. A set of beige mac coats with black turtlenecks and leather shorts with double zippers ended up the collection, while a range of sweaters came in graphic, bold stripes in neon and primary colors.
